February 8th, 20092009 is looking like a superb vintage at Petrolo, as it does in a number of areas in Europe. Below is a picture from this past October of harvest in the Boggina vineyard, a Sangiovese plot that forms the heart of Torrione, and from which a special namesake barrel of Sangiovese is produced every year as well. This vineyard is the site of the original Sangiovese vineyard planted on Petrolo by Luca Sanjust’s grandfather, over half a century ago.
