Eric Asimov of the New York Times writes an article explaining how aging at different stages in a Champagne’s life affects its development, and how Champagne producers should provide more information for consumers, including disgorgement date. Whether or not producers should provide such information is one of the more contentious issues in the Champagne region right now. Antonio Galloni, who reviews Champagne for the Wine Advocate, went so far as to announce that he would no longer review non-vintage Champagnes that do not list a disgorgement dates. Producers like our very own Bruno Paillard have provided this information for years, and Bruno can in fact be considered the father of the disgorgement movement.
