Errazuriz Don Max on the Wine Spectator Grand Tour
April 27th, 2012Errazuriz scores at the top of the Wine Advocate
March 5th, 2012For the third year in a row, Viñedo Chadwick is the single highest rated Chilean wine in the Wine Advocate, with a huge 96 Point review for the 2008 vintage. It’s hard to argue against Chadwick being the most highly regarded Chilean in the US press the last three years, we’ve done a little summary below.
Wine Advocate #199, 2/2012
96 Points: #1 Wine (with 1 other) and #1 Cabernet
“The 2008 Viñedo Chadwick is made up of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot. It offers up a sexy perfume of exotic spices, sandalwood, incense, rose petal, black currant, and blackberry. This sets the stage for a structured, concentrated, impeccably balanced wine that deftly combines elegance and power. It mandates 5-6 years of additional cellaring and will deliver prime drinking from 2016 to 2028+.”
International Wine Cellar #156, May & Jun/2011

Wines of the Pacific: Errazuriz on top!
January 17th, 2012Josh Greene of Wine & Spirits Magazine and Mariana Martinez, editor of planetavino.com, worked together to create the Wines of the Pacific tasting event in November, the results of which were just published in Wine & Spirits’ February issue. The idea of the event was based on the annual Wines of the Andes competition in Argentina, where tasters assess the state of the mountain wines from both sides of the Andes. Rather than mountain wines, the Wines of the Pacific featured wines grown along the Pacific coast. The blind tasting was held at Vina Indomita in Chile’s Casablanca Valley and included four flights by variety of Chilean and California wines, with no indication of origin or vintage, and a group of top American and Chilean press and trade. Greene and Martinez found that the influence of the Pacific had a strong imprint on the wines, whether Chilean or Californian. Each panelist ranked the top three and the totals were tallied, concluding in the selection of the three favorites in each category: sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, pinot noir, and syrah.
Impressively, the Errazuriz 2010 Aconcagua Wild Ferment Chardonnay made the top three. The panelists’ notes states: “Its high intensity tropical fruit and floral notes are tied to a sense of cold weather conditions by its vertical structure. Oak adds toffee and vanilla notes but doesn’t impinge on the clean fruit.”
