Rosso di Montalcino

The Podere Casisano stands in a beautiful setting among the silent hills of Montalcino, surrounded by vineyards and woods. It was first founded in 1990 by a medical family from Rome, and was purchased by the Tommasi family in 2015. The total property covers 130 acres, of which 57 are vineyards for Brunello and Rosso and 30 are planted with olive trees. The estate is perched on a splendid natural terrace overlooking the south-east area of Montalcino, between St. Antimo Abbey and the Orcia river valley.

The Casisano vineyards are all south-east exposed and trellised with single spurred cordon. The soil is extremely stony and made up of a shale and clay mix called galestro. Rosso di Montalcino undergoes a 15- day fermentation and maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. It then spends 8 months in large Slavonian oak.
