The impeccable vines have an average age of 30 years, and are planted on the gravel and clay of the plateau. "This captivating red shows Lapsang souchong tea and incense flavors up front, followed by creamy-textured plum and fig sauce, blackberry preserves and ganache notes, which sail through the long, smoky and creamy finish." 94 Points Wine Spectator

"Densely fruity wine, all sweetness and richness without too much weight. It does have power, a dark core, but it is the sweet balance that is so attractive. There is a layer of acidity as well, giving freshness to the final character of the wine." 95 Points Wine Enthusiast

"Made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, it was harvested in October (as were most top Pomerols), and reveals a powerful, rich, massive style that is atypical for a Moueix offering. It boasts an inky/purple color as well as an extraordinary perfume of black cherries, black currants, blackberries, licorice, and even a hint of truffles. Deep, full-bodied, and powerful with high tannins, huge depth, and a seamless integration of its component parts, this appears to be an utterly profound wine that should age effortlessly for 20-30 years." 95-97 Points Wine Advocate

"There's lots of milk chocolate and light coffee on the nose, as well as bright plum and blackberry. Full-bodied, with fine, slightly chewy tannins and a long finish." 90 Points Wine Spectator

2006 Vintage
In Bordeaux, 2006 was a vintage of contrasts - a hot summer, followed by a cool and cloudy August, and then a beautiful early September, followed again by rain. The great advantage for the Moueix properties in Pomerol was that the Merlots had fully ripened and were picked in the early part of September, before the rain. These fresh, pure Pomerols were unquestionably some of the vintages greatest successes, Château Providence included.

"This limited-production, 100% Merlot cuvee is a beauty. Sweet, almost caramelized black cherry fruit and dark mountain berries intermixed with forest floor and a touch of subtle oak characterize this full-bodied, rich, concentrated, superb Pomerol that should hit its stride in 3-4 years and last for two decades. Unfortunately, the production is only about 1,500 cases." 93 Points Wine Advocate

2005 Vintage
To quote Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix: "A vintage blessed by the gods. A superb summer, dry and hot, but not excessively so. Ideal harvest. A general success for all the varietals and all the appellations."
-
"Beautiful aromas of crushed berry, chocolate and licorice, with hints of toasty oak, follow through to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a rich, wonderful finish. This is generous and balanced. Best after 2017." 95 Points Wine Spectator
