Givry is one of 5 villages in the Côte Chalonnaise sub-region of Burgundy. Its production is 85% red, and it is said to produce the most attractive reds of the commune. The wines can have a nutty aspect, along with a touch of licorice. The wines are famous for being the source of the French King Henri IV's preferred wines in the 16th century. These days, it is not as famous as the wines from the Cote d'Or, but can represent particularly fantastic value.
