Enrico Santini - Montepergoli, Bolgheri

Montepergoli, Bolgheri

The wine is produced from a strict selection of grapes and must from four varieties: Merlot (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Syrah (20%) and Sangiovese (5%). To achieve a perfect harmony between the vine and terroir, the entire vineyard is organically farmed. The grapes are vinified separately with a prolonged maceration period of 20-28 days. Temperature-controlled fermentation is followed by malolactic in French barrique with an additional 20 months of aging. Each vintage is held for a minimum of 6 months in bottle prior to release. Only 700-1,000 cases of this wine are produced in a given vintage.

    • "Thanks to the firm and structured nature of the tannins, Montepergoli will benefit from another five years of cellar aging. The wine opens with black, ripe fruit and smoky aromas of tanned leather, clove and peppercorn." 91 Wine Enthusiast

  • 2004 Vintage

    • "The 2004 Montepergoli may be Santini’s best wine yet. A wealth of aromas and flavors emerge from this gorgeously sculpted, layered beauty as dark fruit, mocha, chocolate, scorched earth, minerals and toasted oak coat the palate with terrific energy and density. This sumptuous, stylish wine is sure to be another head-turner." 93 Points Wine Advocate
