Langhorne Creek-Limestone Coast

Heartland Shiraz is an elegant and pure expression of one of Australia's most iconic varieties.  The Langhorne creek climate and the sandy loam soils make for a Shiraz that is savory, rich and yet balanced and restrained.

The fruit is crushed, then pumped over twice a day to enhance color, flavor and tannins. Ten days skin contact are followed by fermentation with a Rhone isolate yeast at 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Extended maceration resulted in savory, long-chain tannins which gives a soft, approachable palate. The wine matured for 14 months in oak, and was bottled early to maintain a fresh, lifted fruit character.

The wine has vibrant purple hues with a deep ruby red core. The nose has masses of black fruits, red currants and spice which support hints of espresso and dried spice notes. On the palate, the wine is soft yet maintains expressions of cassis, anise and earthiness. This release will provide excellent mid to long term cellaring potential.
