Rotenberg bottle

Rotenberg, Alsace

The first limestone slab of the Great Oolite, inclined towards the east and standing erect like a sentinel facing south and towards the plain, the Rotenberg is the earliest of the Bergheim terroirs. Its red soil, marked by iron, is deeply calcerous and the wholly solar climate brings together Riesling and Pinot Gris into a shimmering of citrus characteristics, less candied than Grasberg, but fine and very elegant.

Rotenberg wines are meant to be drunk fairly young, fresh and airy, with a frame of lemony acidity, very aromatic, they are reflected by the most noble fish, which themselves become illuminated by a magnificent light…almost geological! (a co-planted vineyard of Riesling and Pinot Gris)

    •  “Honeyed apricot and spice notes are accented by orange marmalade and tangy acidity in this off-dry white. Light- to medium-bodied and well-balanced, with a hint of sweet honeysuckle on the finish”. 91 Points Wine Spectator
