5 May 2014 News just released a piece on April’s Most Exciting Wines, according to their favorite wine professionals. Jenny Benzie, former sommelier at the Michael’s in Santa Monica and the Pearl on Nantucket, had the following to say about Ayala Blanc de Blancs 2005:

“While I have always been a fan of their Brut Majeur and Rose Majeur, this was my first experience with their BdB and I can guarantee you that it will not be my last.

This is the first vintage of this wine produced by Ayala with their current winemaker since the purchase of the property in 2005 by the family Bollinger. The wine is 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay and is aged for at least six years after disgorgement before release.

Soft gold color with refined mousse, this Champagne shows the quality of the vintage. The nose shows a hint of maturity with pear, ripe pineapple and a hint of almond. Creamy, rich, intense and pure on the palate which will inspire you to drink more. An amazing value for a vintage selection.”
