France’s most important wine critic, Michel Bettane, has just penned an article naming the 10 Masters of Pinot Noir throughout the world. 5 producers from Burgundy are listed, including some of the most exalted in the world: Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée Conti and Lalou Bize-Leroy of Domaine Leroy.

Jean-Pierre Confuron of Domaine Chanson is named, with the comments translated as follows:

“Not known by the public at large, this brilliant oenologist, responsible with his brother Yves (also brilliant) of his family domaine in Vosne-Romanée and technical director (chosen by Bollinger) of Domaine Chanson in Beaune, he possesses a magisterial comprehension of the grandeur and maturity of Burgundian Pinot Noir and how to take its best to produce long lived wines.”
