Stephen Tanzer’s Winophilia published a piece entitled “Impossible Malbec Bargains: Mine the Gap”.  Tanzer talks of Argentine wines that can be enjoyed that are “ridiculously cheap for their quality”.  Of his suggestions was Finca Decero’s 2012 Malbec, and his tasting notes are as follows. “The Decero 2012 Malbec Remolinos Vineyard Agrelo Mendoza ($21; Vintus) delivers pure aromas of blackberry, licorice, bitter chocolate and violet. This juicy, concentrated, polished wine shows a distinct medicinal reserve to its flavors of darkest berries, mocha and bitter chocolate. The aftertaste is smooth and persistent, with a serious coating of fine-grained tannins and lingering dark berry and licorice notes.” Click here to read the full piece.
