Elin McCoy has some fantastic comments about Quinta do Noval’s dry table wine offerings in a recent article for Here is an excerpt: “the flagship, Quinta do Noval Douro ($90), is a blend of touriga nacional and touriga franca. It’s all silky tannins, spicy-chocolatey flavors and a Bordeaux-like structure and elegance. The bright, violet-scented 100 percent Touriga Nacional ($55) is more luscious and sophisticated than most Douro Tourigas. The one to grab by the case for big holiday parties is the juicy, plummy, plush-textured ready-to-drink 2009 Cedro do Noval ($20), named for the famous cedar tree that stands on the terrace outside the house on the estate. The 2011 arriving next year is even better. Try them now, before everyone else catches on and prices go up.”
