Sandrone posted some great photos of their team crushing the second tank of Barbera d’Alba on the Sandrone Facebook page. The fruit is from the Rocche di San Niccola vineyard in Novello, one of Sandrone’s steepest and best-exposed Barbera sites. Of the 6 or 7 tanks Luciano makes for this bottling, he decided to make one with the stems this year – the grapes and stems are really healthy and mature and should add a bit of extra complexity to the final wine. After doing a selection and cleaning in the vineyard, these crates are tipped through a tank-mounted crusher. Check out the photos below!
