Schiopetto Pinot Bianco 2007: Wine Spectator’s Top Italian Value

February 6th, 2010

Eyeryone’s counting the pennies these days, and when asked about his top picks for value in wine, Wine Spectator’s Italian critic James Suckling made a beeline for Collio and grabbed a bottle of the Schiopetto 2007 Pinot Bianco. At 91 points, it’s a tremendous value with a lot of depth.

“Aromas of lemon peel, with floral and fresh mineral notes, follow through to a full body, with fresh acidity and a long, clean finish of mineral. Offers loads of citrusy fruit.” 91 Wine Spectator

The 2007 Schiopetto wines are sensational – fresh and deep, they’ve been delicious since the day we first tasted the cask samples and have only gotten better. Not that we’re looking to abandon cru Burgundies, but, well, some diversity is nice. PDF of the article is here: Schiopetto – Fresh Whites From Northeast Italy WS
