El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, ranked the No. 1 restaurant in the world on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, decided to close their doors for a few weeks to launch a series of pop-up dinners at three locations across the U.S.: a luxury yacht in Miami, a country club in Birmingham, AL, and a restaurant in Houston.

The restaurant’s two chefs and sommelier (brothers), chose six Spanish wines to showcase at the events, to represent “products of excellence” from their home country. One of the wines selected is Telmo’s El Transistor, a stunning 100% Verdejo from Rueda from a single 10 acre vineyard of old vines on slopes, and aged in a combination of large barrels, cement and stainless steel – Basa’s bigger brother, if you will.

The events are taking place today in Birmingham (click here) and in Houston on August 24-26.  Click here for an article about the event in Miami, which appeared a few days ago in a local Spanish newspaper and specifically mentions the wine selection for the events.  There have also been a few local press hits in the Miami New Times and Eater.
