Poggio al Tufo - Vermentino, Maremma, Toscana
Vermentino, Maremma, Toscana
This bright, crisp Vermentino comes from grapes planted in a single vineyard site called Montebuono, which benefits from a southern exposure and a volcanic soil rich in tufo rock. The vines are planted very closely together (6,500 vines per hectare). The wine sees a 7-day fermentation and 5-month maturation in stainless steel tanks. Straw gold in color with greenish tints, the Vermentino has an intense, fruity perfume typical of the variety. It is full and harmonious, while remaining fresh and crisp. It is an ideal pairing with light appetizers, soups and fish.

"Pale, bright yellow. Pungent aromas of tangerine, apricot, lemon drop, herbs, menthol and licorice. Dense, juicy and savory, with a distinctly chewy quality to the soft yellow fruit flavors. Finishes lemony, understated and dry; should be very refreshing on a hot summer day." 89 Points International Wine Cellar

"Round and full bodied, this is a very fruity wine with good acidity, grapey-floral character, and a long finish. It tastes of pear, pineapple, green apple, lime blossom, grapefruit, and honey. Unwooded. Aged 5 months in stainless steel." 4+ Stars Restaurant Wine Magazine

"Vermentino is a very attractive grape that produces crisp and clean white wines that are redolent of kiwi, cut grass, citrus and peach. This luminous wine has all those qualities plus a crisp, fresh finish." 86 Points Wine Enthusiast
