Vinography on Errazuriz

May 29, 2019

In his latest post, “Chile Continues to Punch Above Its Weight,” Alder Yarrow of Vinography.com discusses a recent trip to Errazuriz. He had the wonderful opportunity to taste through nearly the entire portfolio. He says that “value in Chile doesn’t just exist at the level of $10 wine. It extends quite a ways up the price scale. And this represents great news for American wine lovers, especially those who are looking for a great bottle of wine, but would prefer something a bit more mainstream…The punchline: if you want to spend $25 and get a killer bottle of Cabernet or Pinot Noir, Chile has you covered.”

Maximiano Errazuriz founded Errazuriz in 1870 in the foothills of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Andes Mountains and the Western Hemisphere. Recognizing that this valley, with its hot, dry summers and cool Pacific Ocean breezes, was ideal for growing grapes, he sent for the finest clones from France and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world-class vineyard. Today, the tradition of quality lives on with Don Maximiano’s descendant, Eduardo Chadwick.
